Engineer Mansour Al-Mashaiti, Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, announced the stability of supply chains in the poultry sector in the Kingdom, contributing to meeting the increasing demand for poultry meat and its products. He noted that the sector has made significant leaps in production, with expectations that production will exceed 1.5 million tons, enhancing food security and supporting the national economy in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

Al-Mashaiti also clarified that the production of large-weight chickens, exceeding 1500 grams, is approximately 77,000 tons. Four companies began actual production of large weights at the beginning of this month, which will contribute to their availability at all sales points and retail markets.

Event Details

Al-Mashaiti estimated the daily production of table eggs at over 24 million eggs, with the top ten producers generating more than 10 million eggs daily. The egg stock in March reached about 26.6 million eggs, equivalent to approximately 74,000 cartons. This was discussed during a joint meeting chaired by Al-Mashaiti at the ministry's headquarters, which addressed the stock situation and expected production for the poultry sector in the upcoming period, including the Hajj season.

Representatives from the General Food Security Authority, the National Poultry Producers Committee, and the National Feed Manufacturers Committee of the Saudi Chambers of Commerce participated in the meeting. The quantities of production and stock of broiler chickens in the first quarter of 2026 were reviewed, with the ten companies representing 85% of local production.

Background & Context

The monthly production of broiler chickens in March was 125,470 tons, while the monthly stock for the same month was about 16,278 tons. These figures come at a time when the need to provide poultry meat and its products is increasing, especially with the approaching Hajj season, which sees a significant rise in consumption of these products.

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture aims to ensure price stability and product quality, as the ministry's plans and model poultry projects contribute to achieving a surplus of fresh meat and table eggs.

Impact & Consequences

Al-Mashaiti confirmed that the outcomes of the meeting reassured the status of poultry meat production, ensuring that the increasing demand will be met. He also indicated that the ministry's efforts and those of the relevant authorities will continue to increase production and provide products to consumers, especially during the Hajj season.

Initiatives and programs launched by the ministry to support local feed producers contribute to increasing investments in the poultry feed sector, enhancing production and ensuring the availability of these products in the market.

Regional Significance

These achievements in the poultry sector in Saudi Arabia serve as a model for the region, as many Arab countries strive to achieve self-sufficiency in food products. Strengthening food security in the Kingdom can have a positive impact on neighboring countries, contributing to enhanced regional cooperation in agriculture and food production.

In conclusion, the success of the poultry sector in Saudi Arabia reflects the government's commitment to achieving food security goals, positively impacting the national economy and enhancing the Kingdom's ability to meet its citizens' needs.
