Indonesian Public Television (TVRI) announced that it will adopt the media center model used during the G20 summit in Indonesia 2022 to develop the media center for the 2026 World Cup. Izki Suyanto, the media center coordinator for the 2026 World Cup, revealed that the center will provide advanced services for 200-250 journalists during the tournament, which will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
This decision comes after the success achieved by the media center during the G20 summit, where it hosted over 1,500 journalists and provided them with a range of modern facilities such as large LED screens, high-speed internet, computers, as well as designated areas for relaxation and dining.
Event Details
The media center operated during the G20 summit from November 13 to 17, 2022, and received widespread praise from local and international journalists. The center was equipped with advanced technological means, including access to sites that provide ready-to-use data, images, and videos. The media center for the 2026 World Cup aims to replicate this success, although its capacity will be smaller.
Izki explained that the new center will include all necessary facilities to support journalists in covering events, including the ability to conduct interviews with sports commentators. The center is expected to operate 24 hours a day to meet the needs of journalists during the tournament.
