On Sunday, the latest operations to intercept and destroy ballistic missiles and drones coming from Iran were revealed, as Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE executed rigorous defensive operations.
According to a statement from the Bahrain Defense Force, Manama has been ramping up its defensive efforts since the inception of Iranian attacks on February 28, confirming the destruction of 145 missiles and 246 drones targeting the kingdom’s territories.
In this context, the Bahrain Defense Force emphasized that Iranian assaults on civil sites and private properties constitute a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, underscoring the need for caution and dismissing rumors during times of danger.
From the Saudi side, the Ministry of Defense reported that it successfully intercepted 9 drones in the Eastern region of the kingdom, while three ballistic missiles were launched towards the Riyadh area, with one intercepted and the other two falling in uninhabited areas. Consequently, an early warning was issued in Al-Kharj to alert residents of the potential danger.
Meanwhile, the UAE's Ministry of Defense confirmed effective responses to Iranian missile and drone attacks, handling 4 ballistic missiles and 25 drones. The ministry clarified that the sounds heard in various areas were a result of successful interceptions of these targets, reflecting the readiness of the UAE’s air defenses.
These events unfold amid ongoing military escalation in the region since late February, which has included Israeli and American military strikes against Iran, resulting in hundreds of deaths, including notable figures among security officials.
As Tehran continues to fire missiles toward Israel, it is also targeting American sites and interests in Arab countries, leading to civilian casualties and significant destruction. These assaults have been met with widespread condemnation and international calls for an immediate cessation.
These developments are part of a broader struggle between regional and global powers on the ground, as each party seeks to bolster its political and military standing. The ongoing war between Israel and the United States on one side and Iran on the other highlights increasing tensions that threaten regional peace.
As the escalation continues, the region appears poised for further military and political pressures, raising significant concerns about the future stability of the Gulf and neighboring countries.
