Kaspersky has announced a set of vital recommendations for business owners to ensure the security of their systems against the escalating cyber attacks projected for 2026. These recommendations are timely, given the increasing geopolitical tensions worldwide that heighten the risk of cyber threats.
During an event held in Jakarta, Kaspersky's General Manager for the Asia-Pacific region, Adrian Hia, emphasized the importance of allocating a budget for cybersecurity that aligns with business growth objectives. He stated, "If you want to grow your business by 20%, you must ensure that every customer receives a similar increase in cybersecurity measures."
Event Details
These remarks come at a time when the world is witnessing a significant rise in the number of cyber attacks. Adrian pointed out that geopolitical tensions have led to a continuous increase in attacks compared to previous years. He also noted that the use of artificial intelligence has facilitated the creation of more sophisticated cyber attacks.
According to data provided by Kaspersky, approximately 370,000 new malware programs are detected daily, with this figure expected to rise to 500,000 daily by 2025. In Indonesia alone, over 14,909,665 cyber attacks were recorded in 2025.
Background & Context
Historically, cyber attacks have seen a notable increase in recent years, becoming more complex and harder to detect. With rapid technological advancements, attackers can easily leverage artificial intelligence to create new malware, complicating the security landscape.
These threats are part of a larger shift in how technology is utilized in business, requiring companies to be better prepared to face these challenges. Failing to allocate sufficient budget for cybersecurity can lead to severe consequences for businesses, including data loss and diminished customer trust.
Impact & Consequences
The rise in cyber attacks necessitates that companies reassess their security strategies. Businesses must be ready to invest in new technologies such as Security Operations Centers (SOCs) that enable effective monitoring and analysis of security incidents.
Kaspersky's Regional Director in Indonesia, Devi Novitra, indicated that establishing a Security Operations Center requires significant time and effort, potentially taking between 6 to 12 months. He advised companies not to rely on a single type of technology but to integrate traditional storage solutions with cloud storage to ensure security.
Regional Significance
In the Arab region, many companies face similar challenges as cyber attacks continue to rise. Arab businesses must adopt effective strategies to protect their data and systems from these increasing threats.
These challenges present an opportunity to enhance cooperation among Arab countries in the field of cybersecurity, contributing to the establishment of a safer and more stable business environment.
