Severe storms that hit northern Thailand on Monday evening led to the collapse of a significant number of power poles, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to several individuals, as well as extensive property damage and power outages in wide areas. The Thai Meteorological Department has warned of continued thunderstorms and strong winds over the next 24 hours.
In Chainat Province, a 74-year-old woman lost her life when approximately 30 power poles fell on Fahon Yuthin Road during the thunderstorm. She was on her way home from Takli District in Nakhon Sawan Province when the poles fell on her, and she was found underneath them about 2 to 3 kilometers from her home.

In Nakhon Pathom Province, three people were injured in the Sam Phran area when more than 10 power poles fell on homes, shops, and vehicles along Phaththamonthon Sai 5 Road. A section of the road was temporarily closed, and power was cut to allow authorities to remove the high-voltage poles. The injured were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
In Suphan Buri Province, the violent storm caused the collapse of around 100 power poles in the Ban Phu area, obstructing traffic on the Suphan Buri-Don Chedi Road and leaving many villages without electricity throughout the night, according to the director of the electricity authority in Suphan Buri.
