The Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology has announced a significant achievement in the acceptance of Indonesian students into global universities, with the number of accepted students rising by 150% compared to last year. According to reports, 330 students have received official acceptance from 100 prestigious universities worldwide as of April 24, 2026.
This achievement is a result of the 'Outstanding Garuda School' program, which aims to enhance higher education opportunities for Indonesian students. Stella Kristi, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, stated that the total number of acceptances has also increased to 1,567, representing a 167% increase from the previous year.

For instance, SMAN Fajar Harapan in Aceh saw an increase from one student to 14 students, while the number of accepted students at MAN IC Gorontalo rose from zero to 7 students. At SMAN 10 Samarinda, the number increased from zero to 30 students.
Among the accepted students, two managed to enroll at Oxford University, which is considered one of the best universities in the world according to the Times Higher Education ranking for 2026. Kristi confirmed that she presented the 'Garuda School' program directly to the Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University, reflecting the efforts made to broaden higher education opportunities for Indonesian students.
