Today, the first flights benefiting from the 'Makkah Route' initiative arrived from the Kingdom of Morocco via Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca to Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina. This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia's efforts to provide exceptional services to pilgrims, aiming to streamline the Hajj procedures and offer a comfortable experience for the pilgrims.
The 'Makkah Route' initiative seeks to provide high-quality services, where pilgrims are welcomed and their procedures are completed easily and smoothly in their home countries. These procedures include taking biometric data and issuing Hajj visas electronically, in addition to completing passport procedures at the departure airport after verifying health requirements.
Event Details
The initiative also includes the tagging and sorting of luggage according to transportation and accommodation arrangements in the Kingdom. After that, pilgrims are directly transported to designated buses that take them to their accommodations in the holy cities of Makkah and Medina. Partnering entities are responsible for delivering their luggage to their places of stay, allowing them to focus on performing their rituals.
The Ministry of Interior is implementing this initiative in its eighth year in collaboration with several ministries and agencies, including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health, Hajj and Umrah, and Media, in addition to the General Authority of Civil Aviation and the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority. The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the General Authority for Awqaf, the Guest of Allah Service Program, and the General Directorate of Passports are also participating, in integration with the digital partner (STC Group).
