Three students from the University of Indonesia (UI) have created a new platform called UMKM-GO, designed to provide digital solutions that support the development of small and medium enterprises. The students, who are studying in the creative business program, developed this platform using artificial intelligence to objectively analyze business feasibility and provide accurate data.
The team consists of Mohammad Fayyad, Adiba Khansa Alinia Putri, and Stevie Viter Andina Simatupang, who emphasized that the platform offers quick and precise analyses, making it easier for business owners to make data-driven decisions.
Event Details
The UMKM-GO platform acts as a bridge connecting small business owners with investors, addressing the common issue of insufficient documentation needed to evaluate business feasibility. Through this platform, entrepreneurs can receive a comprehensive assessment of their business readiness, along with in-depth analyses and strategic recommendations.
The platform provides a system that streamlines the sorting process for investors, enabling them to find promising projects more efficiently. This initiative reflects the importance of utilizing big data to enhance the business environment and provide valuable information to entrepreneurs.
Background & Context
This initiative aligns with the Indonesian government's efforts to support small and medium enterprises, which are a fundamental pillar for economic growth. Historically, these businesses have struggled with a lack of support and guidance, negatively impacting their ability to compete in the market.
The University of Indonesia aims to foster innovation among its students through its educational programs, contributing to the creation of an interactive learning environment that supports the development of skills necessary to meet market challenges.
Impact & Consequences
The UMKM-GO platform represents a significant step towards achieving sustainable development goals, particularly the eighth goal focused on decent work and economic growth. By improving the management of small businesses, the platform can contribute to increased productivity and business sustainability.
Furthermore, the platform supports the ninth goal, which emphasizes industry, innovation, and infrastructure, as it promotes the use of modern technology in the small business sector.
Regional Significance
The UMKM-GO experience serves as a model for the Arab region, where many countries face similar challenges in supporting small and medium enterprises. This initiative can inspire Arab students and entrepreneurs to develop innovative solutions that support economic growth in their countries.
In conclusion, these innovations highlight the importance of education and technology in enhancing economic development, opening new horizons for small businesses worldwide.
