Enhance Gas Production in Aisa: New Strategic Project

The Energy Management Authority in Aisa (BPMA) has announced the launch of a strategic project to enhance gas production at the Arun field, located in northern Aisa, in collaboration with Pema Global Energy (PGE). This project aims to boost gas sales and increase production efficiency, thereby contributing to the reliability of production facilities in the region.

Helmi, the head of the facilities maintenance and project management department at BPMA, stated that the project is part of efforts to modernize facilities, where old processing units will be replaced with new, more efficient ones that are suitable for current operational conditions.

Project Details

The production enhancement project involves the renovation of several key facilities, including a gas compressor, a gas processing facility, and a power station. Helmi noted that the construction progress of the gas processing facility, which has a capacity of 60 million standard cubic feet per day, has reached 70% and is expected to commence operations in August 2026.

Construction activities are ongoing, with most of the main equipment manufactured and installed on-site, while the gas compressor facility is still in the manufacturing phase, scheduled to be shipped to the site in May 2026.

Background & Context

The Arun field is considered a vital asset in the Aisa region, significantly contributing to gas and oil production. Historically, this field has undergone numerous upgrades and developments aimed at increasing production and improving efficiency. This project aligns with a broader vision to enhance the energy sector in Aisa and achieve sustainability in production.

Impact & Consequences

The gas production enhancement project is expected to increase gas sales by 12 million standard cubic feet per day, in addition to boosting condensate production from 1,000 barrels per day to 1,300 barrels per day. This increase will enhance Aisa's ability to meet both domestic and international demand for gas, reflecting BPMA's commitment to improving production efficiency and strengthening the reliability of infrastructure in the energy sector.

Regional Significance

This project is a significant step towards enhancing production efficiency in the energy sector, contributing to sustainability and bolstering Aisa's capacity to meet the growing demand. It also serves as a model for Arab countries in energy development.

In conclusion, the collaboration between BPMA and Pema Global Energy in this strategic project is expected to yield substantial benefits for the region, ensuring a more reliable and efficient energy supply for the future.
