The Land Transport Department in Selangor reported a rise in traffic accidents during a special operation for Eid al-Fitr, with red light violations and phone usage while driving being the most common offenses. The operation took place from March 13 to 29, involving intensive road monitoring across the state.
The Director General of the Land Transport Department in Selangor, Azrin Borhan, stated that these two violations were the most frequent among road users during the operation. He noted that some offenders justified their actions by claiming they were in a hurry or did not notice the change to a red signal before accelerating.

During the operation, 334 enforcement officers were deployed to strategic locations, where 45,140 vehicles were inspected, and actions were taken against 1,789 vehicles. A total of 6,688 violations were recorded under the provisions of the Road Transport Act of 1987 and related regulations.
Other violations included expired vehicle licenses, lack of valid driving licenses, insufficient insurance coverage, technical violations, and overloading. License-related violations were the most common, followed by technical violations and others.
